Director of Theatre-Tokyo. He began making films while in school, and then worked as an assistant director for various films and music videos. He gained experience as an assistant director to Hiroyuki Nakano, and also worked as the youngest member of a ‘peace’ creative unit called Peace Brothers. The films he made with Nakano include Spoken Word and Opinions. After making several short films, he collected and released them as Straw Very Short Films. In 2005, he directed a feature film COLORS. Sleeping Flower was his first theatrically released film. He has also worked on music videos, commercials, as a DOP, and on photography and art direction. In 2011, he launched Light Up Nippon, a project to set off fireworks on August 11th at eleven disaster areas of the Tohoku earthquake. He also launched theater-tokyo, and released a new film UGLY.
