Call for entries of films within 5 minutes duration on the theme of peace from around the world!
UNITED FOR PEACE FILM FESTIVAL (UFPFF) is a film festival on the theme of peace.
UFPFF has been held near September 21st, the International Day of Peace, each year since 2011, encouraging young people, such as students, to connect internationally by sharing their films, as a universal language. The entry period to submit your film to UFPFF 2018 is from March 21st to
July 21st August 15th (extended). Entry form will be shown during the entry period.
Note: UFPFF 2018 festival screenings will be held on Saturday, September 22nd.
Films with the theme of peace are not necessarily ones depicting war or conflict, but also ones about ordinary daily life. Please express your daily peace, precious and peaceful moments that you want to preserve, anything that you regard as peace related in the field of moving image, and within 5 minutes duration. As long as your film relates to the theme of peace, any style of expression as animation, CG, fiction or documentary – is welcomed. Our team of judges from various fields will select the finalist’s work. We look forward to receiving your submissions!

Please read through the following list of requirements, and the entry agreement in order to submit your films to UFPFF 2018.
Theme: Films related to peace (the bonds between people, sustainability, peace in daily life, conflict and war, volunteer activities, human rights etc.)
Eligibility: Anyone, or any age, is eligible to enter their film.
Duration: Within 5 minutes (films produced after 2018) and a maximum 2 films
Language: Japanese or English (if in other languages, please add English subtitles)
Entry period: Submit your film to UFPFF 2018 from between March 21st to July 21st.
Finalists: 10 Finalists will be invited to join the ceremony and to screen their works at venue in Yokohama(JICA Yokohama) on September 22nd.
Grand Prix: An award of Japanese Yen 100,000. The award-winning director will also have the chance to screen one of their unpublished films (maximum duration of 10 minutes) at the next UFPFF event.
Additional Awards: Student Award etc.
Genre: All genres of film are accepted.
Format: Films submitted in the following formats MOV, MP4, AVI, MPEG are accepted. We recommend that you finalize your work at the aspect ratio of 16:9.
Entry Process: The UFPFF 2018 entry form will be available online from our website during the entry period.
Please send your entry form and application within the dates of the entry period. The film data should be uploaded using online storage, and the url link sent with your submission, or can be posted to our office in the form of storage media, DVD, USB or hard disk drive.
* Grand Prix
Japanese Yen 100,000.
The award-winning director will also have the chance to screen one of their unpublished films (maximum duration of 10 minutes) at the next UFPFF event.
*The Student Award
The award-winning director will be invited to PLURAL＋ 2018 award ceremony which will take place in NY in November.
* UFPFF will cover the traveling expenses from the origin of the departure to NY up to 200,000 Yen.

(1) Entry period: March 21st to July 21st
(2) The 10 finalists and their selected films will be announced by the middle of August.
(3)The UFPFF Awards Ceremony and screenings of the finalist films will be on September 22nd, 2018. All of the selected finalists are invited to attend the ceremony at the venue in Yokohama on September 22nd. If you are not able to attend the ceremony we are happy to receive your pre-recorded video message. All filmmakers who submitted to the festival are welcome to attend the ceremony.
* We can not cover the traveling costs to the venue.

・ The selected films of finalists will be uploaded and viewable on the UFPFF channel.
・ When your work includes any individual or faces, please confirm the permissions for use before submitting your film.
・ When your work includes any music or other artwork for which you do not own the copyright, please get the clearance from the persons or parties concerned (the copyright owners) before you submit your work.
・ When your work includes a third person or third party’s artwork (writing, music etc.), please include the confirmation of this agreement by the artist to our office.
・ UFPFF will not accept any responsibility or liability in cases where any personal rights, or copyright infringement should occur.
・ We will not be able to return any data or tapes of your work after submission.
・ The copyright of each work belongs to the filmmakers, though UFPFF may reserve the right to use some part of your work in order to promote and announce this festival on their website, or in associated sites, within promotions and PR documents, or within certain media like brochures, programs, flyers etc. UFPFF would like to request the complimentary use of your film and work, including the title, your name, profile and portrait for promotion, and at no cost. We reserve the right to edit your work for the same promotional reasons, so please confirm and agree that the moral rights for your work(s) will be permitted for festival promotion related activities.
・Even if certain rights for publicity and promotional use (broadcasting rights, publishing rights, etc.) and the secondary copyrights of your work are transferred to a third party, UFPFF will maintain the same original conditions outlined in the preceding clause.
Therefore, when an award-winning filmmaker transfers or sells the rights of the work to a third party, please make sure to include the conditions of the preceding clause in the contract.
・ You may submit a total of two(2) individual films.
・ UFPFF may not be able to screen your film if there are any rights-related issues.
